Amazon's Echo Show spawns numerous imitators

Amazon's Alexa and Google's Assistant are just a few years old, and this year's CES proved their parent companies are still fighting over every inch of the voice-assistant market.

With Amazon dominating CES previous year with Alexa, it seems that Google can no longer ignore Alexa's growing influence even though Google Assistant is available on phones and tablets.

New research has come out that looks at the number of Americans that own a smart speaker along the lines of the Amazon Echo or Google Home devices. Though announcements at a big event are not much considerable, yet this one by tech mammoth Google certainly drives our attention. For example, there are Nest, LG, and Wemo sections that'll show you the actions you can take with their smart products.

Google launched into CES with a bang, and their presence is surely not to be missed. The smart display will play music, display calendar, weather and Google Maps, among other things. There is no news yet on the projected future of the Google Assistant, but fans are expecting more information in the coming months.

In summary, Amazon is looking at Alexa not just as a virtual assistant for speakers, but as a robust smart home platform. Namely, this piece of software allows you to integrate Alexa into your wireless headphones and smartwatches so you can use it wherever you want.

Starting your day gets easier with the Lenovo Smart Display. The first is an 8-inch model that costs $199.99, the second is a 10-inch model priced at $249.99.

On the basic technology level, Alexa has, for competition, Apple's Siri, Google Assistant, Microsoft Cortana and Samsung's Bixby.

"Panasonic's work to bring Amazon Alexa to the vehicle is a great example of how we're seeing greater collaboration between technology vendors to provide a more consistent experience in different domains", said Nils Lenke, senior director of corporate research at Nuance. He is confident Alexa will enable user to achieve more when handling a touch screen.
