Barcelona sign Yerry Mina, Arsenal's Francis Coquelin to join Valencia

Barcelona has signed Colombia defender Yerry Mina from the Brazilian team Palmeiras for €11.8 million ($14 million), the La Liga football club said.

We will shortly inform you of the agenda and the presentation time of the player. However, now with Yerry Mina in their squad, there is a good chance that Barcelona will let Mascherano leave.

A deal for Mina had been set up for after the World Cup, but Barcelona were keen to complete an early move for the defender, who made clear his desire to join Ernesto Valverde's side.

Luan scored five goals in just two matches in the youth Copa Sao Paulo de Futebol Junior, having previously turned plenty of heads with his scintillating displays for Brazil during 2017. He also has three scores in nine appearances for the Colombian national team.

Yerry Mina's sporting career started in his hometown of Guachené, where he played as a midfielder. He continued in this position following his move to Independiente de Santa Fe, where he established himself as one of South America's most promising players in the position before securing a move to Palmeiras in 2016.

Barcelona are expected to officially unveil Mina on Friday after Camp Nou sporting director pushed through the deal to make the Colombian the club's second signing of the winter transfer market after the arrival of Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool.
