Gwinnett County Police have identified the body of the woman found in Gwinnett Place Mall's food court on December 21.
A woman who was found dead at Gwinnett Place Mall days before Christmas has been identified as a 19-year-old from Lawrenceville, police say.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported this week that 19-year-old student was reported missing October 8, only to disappear two days later after returning home the first time.
She disappeared again two days later, police said.
After her second disappearance, no other missing person report was filed in her name, Gwinnett Daily Post reported.
Man worked at a store in Perimeter Mall and picked up her last paycheck on November 20, police said.
A sketch provided by county detectives led to an aunt of Man's drawing a connection between the story and her missing niecing, according to WSBTV.
Man was found in a vacant Subway restaurant space located in the mall December 21, according to a report in Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a daily newspaper in the metropolitan area of Atlanta. She was last enrolled for the Fall 2017 semester as a psychology major, and did not enroll in spring semester classes.
Police have yet to reveal the cause of her death as "the circumstances surrounding her death are still being investigated", according to a press release.
Man was found by a maintenance worker checking a vacant area of the mall. "We don't know exactly how she died", said Corporal Michele Pihera with the Gwinnett County Police Department. On Jan. 2, police urged the public to help identify the victim and sorted through tips before identifying Man.
"It's probably not a great reflection of the current private owners of the mall", Jace Brooks, a local county commissioner, told an Atlanta Journal-Constitution columnist.
