"He opened the door of his auto outside his home and the bomb went off", a source from Sidon said.
An official in the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas was wounded in a auto bomb blast in southern Lebanon today, military and medical sources said.
According to a medical source at the scene, Hamdan, whose nom de guerre is Abu Hamzah, suffered serious injuries to his legs while opening the door of his silver BMW.
Hamas did not immediately issue a statement on the blast. The explosion took place at his home, near Sidon's Al-Bustan Street.
The internet users share the first images from the scene that depict black smoke rising over the burning auto.
Security forces sealed off the site of the explosion in a northern residential district of the city, 40km south of Beirut, and firefighters arrived to put out the flames.
The group has previously accused Israel of being involved in the assassination of a number of its members inside and outside Palestine.
