MSNBC's Chris Matthews apologized for joking about a "Bill Cosby pill" while awaiting an interview with Hillary Clinton two years ago.

MSNBC "Hardball" host Chris Matthews joked about giving Hillary Clinton a "Bill Cosby pill" before interviewing her in footage from January 2016 obtained by the Cut.

A spokeswoman for MSNBC referred BuzzFeed News to a statement Matthews made to the Cut.
