Flight of the Conchords returning to HBO with new comedy special


It's official: Flight of the Conchords are returning for a new HBO special.

After hinting at a return last week, Flight of the Conchords have officially confirmed that they will be releasing an hour-long comeback special on HBO this May. Today, HBO announced an upcoming hour-long special will premiere in May.

The show was well received, being nominated for 10 Emmy Awards, and also featured Rhys Darby, Kristen Schaal and Arj Barker.

The comedy special was taped in front of live sold-out audience during their United Kingdom visit, featuring classic songs and originals performed as part of the "Flight of the Conchords Sing Flight of the Conchords Tour".

Flight of the Conchords began as a sketch in the HBO comedy series "One-Night Stand" in 2005 before becoming a cult classic and critically acclaimed series when it debuted on HBO in 2007. The show was praised by critics and beloved by fans, turning the cult favorites into an global sensation.

Hamish Hamilton will direct the special, with Clement and McKenzie executive producing alongside Mike Martinovich.
