HMD sends out invites to MWC event, new Nokia phones expected

The company has sent invites for the launch event that will be held in Barcelona, which is also the host city for the mobile trade show. In 2017, the company launched Nokia 3310, which generated huge hype among the community.

Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer at HMD Global, has told people to expect something "awesome" from HMD Global at MWC 2018 in February. Been super busy planning #MWC2018.

As per earlier reports, Nokia 9 device is expected to feature a 5.5-inch QHD bezel-less display with a resolution of 1440x2560 pixels.

Nokia looks to be plotting big phone announcements for MWC 2018 next month, right alongside the rumored Samsung Galaxy S9 and Huawei P11. "Please expect it to be awesome", Sarvikas tweeted yesterday. Overall, the company sold over 10 million Nokia units (smartphone and feature phones) for its first year.

The Nokia family in 2018 is expected to get a list of new members, including the Nokia 1, Nokia 4, Nokia 7, Nokia 8 (2018), and Nokia 9. It's thought to have a dual selfie camera setup. It is also reported to have 12-megapixel and 13-megapixel camera sensors on the back and a 3250mAh battery with fast charging support.

In addition to the Nokia 9, we can safely speculate the Nokia 1 as the new sales-driver for HMD Global.

On the other hand, Nokia 1 could boast an HD resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and it will come equipped with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. While the Nokia 9 has been rumoured to feature top-of-the-line specifications, the Nokia 1 could be one of the first smartphones to run Android Go. Further, the smartphone is rumoured to go on sale in Russian Federation at RUB 5,990 (approximately Rs. 6,750).
