Javier Mascherano set to leave Barcelona

Having arrived from Liverpool in 2010, Mascherano leaves Camp Nou with four La Liga titles, four Copa del Rey trophies, two Champions Leagues and two FIFA Club World Cups to his name.

It's speculated that the 33-year-old may now be in line to complete move to the Chinese Super League, although a statement on the club website does not indicate where the midfielder is going next.

The goodbye ceremony will take place on January 24 and will be attended by president of Barcelona Josep Maria Bartomeu and his team-mates.

Double Uefa Champions League victor Mascherano is arguably the highest-profile signing to join the Chinese Super League and fans will hope he can help his new side break Guanghzou Evergrande's stranglehold on the title. "We warmly welcome him and hope he can lead the team to a higher level".

Obviously, Henderson's leadership made an impression on the young Brazilian, and he is repaying the favor by wearing Henderson's squad number at Barcelona. The hardest thing about playing for Barça is knowing that the day will come when I have to leave.

"I feel very privileged". I think the lucky one here has been me. "Before putting the club in a position to make a decision and risk ending things in a bad way, I chose to reach a solution that was satisfactory for both parts".
