Nintendo Released almost a Dozen Big New Games for Switch

Pokken Tournament DX will get updated with some new DLC characters and you can purchase the Deluxe Battle Pack paid DLC as it is now available and will be released in two waves. New additions from the Wii-U include Hyrule Warriors and Donkey Kong Country Freeze. Plus there's new costumes for Link and Zelda based on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Mario + Rabbids DLC (Spring 2018) - Early Switch hit Mario + Rabbids is getting some welcome DLC, adding Donkey Kong as a character. The game is being developed by Camelot who has previously worked on a number of Mario Sports titles.

That's a lot of news for a "mini" Nintendo Direct. Players will be able to mix some abilities while playing with friends in co-op.

The Switch port of Dragon Quest Builders, the Dragon Quest-themed take on Minecraft, has a demo available today.

Another platform for the Nintendo Switch sees you controlling Madeline as she takes on the unsafe Celeste Mountain. There will be touch-screen functionality similarly to how the iOS version, though you can still play with a controller. The game will launch later this year but no specific release window has been announced.

Luigi's Balloon World is a competitive mode players can access by finding Luigi in each kingdom.

In a surprise Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo announced a slew of new games and updates for the Nintendo Switch. Payday 2 is set to release on February 27th.

It's a ladies-only affair with SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy. Most people including myself were anxious about the software lineup for the Nintendo Switch come 2018, but it seems that Nintendo knows what it's doing and will do its level best to ensure that the Switch is stacked with a number of exclusives and 3rd party titles to keep Switch owners entertained for the entire year. Both of these games come from publisher EA. Celeste release date for the Nintendo Switch is January 25. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze arrives on Switch on May 4. The game is known for its difficulty, so to make things easier, Nintendo is introducing a new character named Funky Kong.

The announcements included a mix of brand new games, as well as some DLC for existing titles.
