RB Leipzig dismiss early Keita switch

German newspaper Bild, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo, is reporting that the Reds have been given encouragement if they want to try and bring the Guinea worldwide to Anfield earlier than the end of the season.

In earlier reports, Kicker revealed a contract clause with a €75 million fee for Keita only due in the summer if Leipzig qualify for the Champions League - with Liverpool allegedly paying €10m less should Leipzig fail to qualify for European competition.

"Nothing has changed and our position hasn't changed from before regarding this transfer".

Liverpool has been linked with a move for Monaco's Thomas Lemar and Leicester's Riyad Mahrez as a replacement for Coutinho, but maybe there is no real necessity, especially with dynamic Guinea midfielder Naby Keita joining from Leipzig in the summer. "We have always said that there's no reason to let Keita leave early and that's the way it will be".

Liverpool are in talks with RB Leipzig in a renewed effort to make a breakthrough in their bid to bring over Naby Keita during this January window.

It offered further proof that Keita has lacked enthusiasm in recent weeks, something that Bild have reported.

However, Leipzig coach Ralph Hasenhuttl told reporters on Thursday that Keita remains a part of his plans for the foreseeable future.

It would also keep Liverpool on an upwards trajectory as a club, after too many years of taking one step forward and two steps back.

The fans who bought Coutinho's 2017-18 Liverpool jersey can get their money compensated at the official club stores with a 50 euros voucher. They've already waited a few months - the deal was agreed last August - and the 22-year-old has already spoken about his excitement to move to Merseyside.

He was gutted in the summer that RB Leipzig delayed the transfer for a year.
