Rex Burkhead appeared to be trending toward a return from a knee injury he suffered against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The New England Patriots will reportedly not have a couple of their running backs on Saturday when they take on the Tennessee Titans. Fellow running back James White was also listed as questionable for the game, but Schefter reports he is expected to play. "But when you get good news, it helps you to look forward to these games a little better". Branch and Burkhead both missed games down the stretch and seemed optimistic to play, but apparently need more time. Prior to that, he was averaging 55 yards per game and.6 touchdowns per game. The 27-year-old missed New England's final two regular-season contests because of a left knee injury.

Last year, Burkhead rushed for 344 yards and two touchdowns while catching 17 passes for 145 yards.

The Patriots and Titans kick off Saturday night at 8:15 p.m.at Gillette Stadium.

Along with White, the Patriots will have Dion Lewis and Brandon Bolden available in the backfield against the Titans. Branch played in 12 games this season, including six starts, after being a regular starter the previous two seasons.
