Sockless Mina looks to learn from Barcelona teammates

Mina who joined the league leaders on a five-and-a-half-year contract for an €11.8million deal from Palmeiras on Thursday could not hide the excitement of the eventuality of playing alongside one of the best footballer ever. The 23-year-old Mina is being brought in as a long-term option and will not walk straight into the first team.

The young defender proceeded to take his boots and even socks off before stepping on to the Camp Nou pitch and remained for a moment in what seemed like a prayer - something he does every time he steps on to the pitch of a new club, which won the hearts of even neutral supporters.

FC Barcelona's newest signing has revealed he got goosebumps when he met Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

'For me it's a source of indescribable pride because I have always dreamed about it and now the chance has come to be here with these great figures, ' Mina told the club's official website.

"I will be calm and I will try to control my adrenaline", Mina said at his presentation - quoted by Marca. "It says that with the planting of your [bare] feet you will touch the terrain you want to conquer. Little by little I want to learn and work hard to become a good fit to the squad". However, while a deal had been set-up for after the World Cup, the Catalan giants were very keen to complete an early move for the Palmeiras star and thus pushed for a deal in the January window.

'I hope to get something from all of them and win trophies is the most important thing.

Mina will compete with Gerard Pique, Thomas Vermaelen, Samuel Umtiti and Javier Mascherano for a spot in the centre of Ernesto Valverde's defence. I will go objective by objective.
