Rihanna in her post reported that on December 26, Alleyne was walking through a track near his home, he was approached by a man who shot him multiple times before fleeing the scene.Alleyne was rushed to the state-run Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he eventually died.

A 23-year-old man has been charged over the fatal shooting of Rihanna's cousin.

"RIP cousin... can't believe it was just last night that I held you in my arms!" she wrote to her Instagram Tuesday. We love you Tavon'. Every third person in Barbados carries a gun with them, the police said.

She also shared a video Alleyne took while he was walking along a road with his siblings. Almost 80 percent of murders previous year were gun-related, according to Barbados Today.

Since his untimely death the day after Christmas 2017, Tanella has been sticking closer to her family.

His sister, Tanella, also posted a photo of herself with Alleyne at the hospital, putting an emoji of an angel over his face. On social media, she said that she is only comforted by the fact that he will now be with her twin sister and their mother.

Tavon was shot and killed the day after Christmas sending shock-waves throughout the Caribbean island and on social media where Rihanna condemns the killing and spoke out against gun violence.

Alleyne's Instagram account featured images of the singer, including one in which he wished her a happy birthday in February.

Williams has been ordered to remain in police custody until his next court hearing, which Barbados Today reports will take place on 31 January.
