Now that espresso menu has, effectively, doubled as Starbucks is rolling out a Blonde Roast espresso in all of its USA stores today.
In a release, the Seattle-based coffee chain said customers will be able to select either the new Blonde espresso or Signature espresso in several beverages.
Customers can request this roast, made from Latin American and East African beans, for any handmade drink, like Caffe Latte, Cappuccino, Flat White, Macchiato and Americano. Now you'll have the option of choosing your espresso for the first time based on what you like: dark or light roast.
The Seattle coffee giant - caffeinating folks across the planet for decades - today rolled out a new espresso option in the US dubbed Blonde espresso. Starbucks #BlondeEspresso is here.
Demand for espresso beverages is on the rise with the National Coffee Association reporting in 2017 that almost 25 percent of past-day daily coffee drinkers choose espresso*. "We are really proud of the roast and think customers are going to love experimenting with it".
S&P Global analyst Andy Sookram said this is the chain's attempt to keep existing customers coming back, while at the same time, luring in new ones. We want every experience our customers have with us to be ideal for them said Kris Engskov, president U.S. Retail for Starbucks. The new Blonde Espresso, too, has already been getting positive feedback since its debut in Canadian markets just previous year, Starbucks says. After the success of those earlier coffee roasts, the Starbucks team "decided to break the rules a bit" when it came to espresso, a spokesperson for Starbucks said via email.
Starbucks stock was $59.28, down 3 cents or 0.06%, in mid-morning trading Tuesday.
