Addressing a gathering to mark National Youth Day at Belagavi, Karnataka, through video conferencing, the Prime Minister said that Swami Vivekananda emphasised on brotherhood.

"We have to create India that our freedom fighters dreamt of".

He said that the character of Swami Vivekananda was an inspiration to the youth and his teachings were contemporary.

He also assured the youth of the country that the government was working to ensure that start-ups are successful and young entrepreneurs can become job creators.

In 1984, the government had made a decision to observe the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand as the National Youth Day.

Nation is celebrating the 155th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on Friday.One of the greatest spiritual leaders of India, Swami Vivekananda, who was born on January 12 in 1863 had introduced Indian philosophies of Vedanta, oriental philosophies and power of yoga to the western world.

Parliamentary Secretary PWD, UD & ULB and Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso, Borum ZPM Techi Tolu and several eminent personalities including the members of School Managing Committee and faculty of School were present on the occasion. The festival is organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh government.
