Payton Pritchard scored 18 points, including two on free throws with 13.8 seconds left, as visiting OR hold off No. 11 Arizona State 76-72 on Thursday night.

Since that loss to the Sun Devils on January 31, 2014, the Beavers have gone 113-21 overall.

Arizona State got just eight points from their bench, leaving the scoring duties to their trio of guards, which saw senior Kodi Justice take centerstage on Thursday.

OR will have opportunities for wins that may land them closer to the Top 25 in coming weeks. Sophomore Mikayla Pivec has handled much of the point guard duties, and she hadn't played the position since the seventh grade. Arizona, by comparison, is 72.7 per game, which ranks 196th in the country (and fifth in the Pac 12). Elijah Brown had 18 points and hit two free throws with 32 seconds left for Oregon.

OR wasn't as effective in turning points into turnovers - 13 points from turnovers, compared to Arizona State's 14. Washington State is making 11.8 3-pointers per game this season, two more than any other Pac-12 team.

However, the pecking order of the conference was thrown out of wack when the previously-undefeated Sun Devils fell to both Arizona and Colorado in consecutive games before defeating Utah in Salt Lake City last weekend.

It's a matchup of opposites, with the Wildcats featuring a dizzying offensive attack spearheaded by a three-headed monster of Deandre Ayton, Allonzo Trier and Rawle Alkins-who score 20.4, 19.6 and 15.6 points per game, respectively.

"They grinded us up on defense", he said. Similar to that ranking, Oregon State trails only Florida. Junior Reid Travis averages over 20 per game and just over seven rebounds to pace the Cardinal.

For the most part, the Ducks eliminated the clumsiness in the second half and used that drive-and-kick over and over with a strong defensive effort to eventually pull away. "It was choppy. We never really got into a great rhythm on offense".

Sorkin, a 6-foot-10 senior, had 23 points in the season opener against Coppin State but had scored only 16 points in nine games since.

"It was a physical game".

He managed five points in 15 minutes in the first three Pac-12 games.

"They did a nice job of tempoing the game and make it a real possession game", Hurley said.
