"We ask that you respect the family's privacy at this time".

However this afternoon she deleted the post and shared a video revealing that news of her death was incorrect.

"Hi everyone, I would to kindly ask you to please stop spreading the news that I'm dead because obviously I'm not". My lawyer is already working on this and this person who wants to spoil my happiness is going to pay for it!'

In a video, she added: "I've been to hell today".

"I'm on holiday. I'm in Arabia and I'm not dead".

Rebekah joined the Big Brother house back in 2009 as Brazilian student, Rodrigo Lopes and underwent gender reassignment surgery in 2014 after two years of living as a woman.

Shelton appeared on the show during its Channel 4 run in 2009, where she eventually finished in fifth place.

She recalled, "There was a turning point - when I met someone in Brazil four years ago". Friends and family of Rodrigo have been frantic this morning. She remained on the show for just under three months (making it through to the final), and was a much-liked housemate with the viewing public.

More recently, Rebekah appeared on ITV daytime show Judge Rinder.

"We're sorry to inform everyone of the sad news that our wonderful and lovely Rebekah died unexpectedly on Wednesday night", the tweet read.

"It was a big step to go full time as a woman".

Shelton did not make clear whether she knew the person she claims hacked her account, or whether she would be pursuing legal action.

'The only thing I wish is that that my family will learn to accept me.

Last year, she said she was struggling to cope because she felt so isolated after turning to prostitution.

"I saw that disgusting thing between my legs and I started crying around the hospital saying, 'I regret, I regret.' I wanted to kill myself because it was a nightmare".
