Trump suggests he's developed a positive relationship with Kim Jong


Russian President Vladimir Putin says North Korean leader Kim Jong Un "won this round" in the latest standoff with the United States and South Korea over his nuclear and ballistic-missile programs.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's has hailed the tell-all book which has rocked Donald Trump's presidency. "I have relationships with people. China's been helping us a lot, so you can veer a little bit differently, but for the most part everything I have said I have done", he said in response to a question on his electoral promise of being tough on China.

Okay, having made clear how easy it is to misjudge the future, immediate or long-range, on the Korean Peninsula, I'll go out on a limb and predict the Games will go off without much of a hitch.

The administration had been due to hold a Cabinet-level meeting this week to sharpen its economic and military options for dealing with North Korea. It was a rare example of a North Korean official telling the truth.

The North Korean delegation is expected to run into the hundreds, even though figure skaters Ryom Tae-Ok and Kim Ju-Sik are their only two athletes who qualified to compete - and subsequently missed a deadline to register for the Games. -South Korean military exercises, with pleas for more and bigger war games to show Kim Jong-Un he can never "drive a wedge" between those "ironclad" allies, the USA and South Korea.

Although Donald Trump was unable to visit the Demilitarised Zone during his Seoul visit a year ago, South Korean officials made sure his helicopter ride showed him that the capital was only 56km from the North Korean border.

Chosen for their good looks and sharp moves, North Korea's female cheerleaders are a marked contrast to the regime's menacing nuclear ambitions.

"To accomplish tasks from the New Year's message, each regional party unit, judicial authorities, and organizations have announced their New Year's plan", said a source from North Hamgyong province, who requested anonymity.

The invite to North Korea to participate in the Olympics has already required some diplomatic and internal Olympic Committee (IOC) gymnastics to make the idea reality. On Tuesday, the two Koreas held their first talks in two years and agreed on the North's participation in the Winter Olympics being held in the South next month. Diplomats report the beginnings of food shortages in North Korea, and China is sending some North Korean workers back home.

HAS put forward a proposal to field a joint women's ice hockey team with North Korea at the upcoming Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.

"This [postponement] has been made so the United States could escape its hard predicament, a country that can no longer ignore our leading efforts in improving North-South relations and securing peace on the Korean peninsula", the North Korean statement read. These remarks hint at Trump's confidence that, even if Pyongyang does have such intentions, the United States is capable of containing them. The belief of Soviet leaders that Reagan might just be insane enough to push the nuclear button constrained Soviet behavior and helped make possible a peaceful end to the Cold War.

North Korea has earned only two medals in past Winter Games, which it has attended sporadically, starting in 1964.
