Dunham announced the news on Thursday and revealed that Jennifer Garner will star in the show, which will be made for HBO in the US. Based on the British series created by Julia Davis, the project hails from the Girls duo of creator/executive producers Lena Dunham and executive producer Jenni Konner.
Jennifer plays Kathryn in the eight-episode series, a woman who goes on a back-to-nature weekend for her husband Walt's 45 birthday. But what was supposed to be a pleasant weekend ends up testing the boundaries of marriages, especially when a few other ladies tag along, including Kathryn's passive sister and morally superior friend.
Dunham and Konner describe Garner's character as "messy, tough and provocative and really really fun".
It's "Fabulous Deal Friday!" here at the Track - and first up is Jennifer Garner, who's doing quite well since her split from Cambridge's own Ben Affleck. More than 10 years later fans are finally getting a chance at Garner back on their TV screens again as a lead character, but this show isn't like Alias at all... it's a comedy.
Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner announce their first show since 'Girls'
Actress Lena Dunham poses at The Hollywood Reporter's Annual Women in Entertainment Breakfast in Los Angeles, California December 9, 2015. Julia Davis, who wrote and directed the 2016 Sky Atlantic series, exec produces for Hush Ho.
This is Garner's first major TV role since her memorable portrayal of Central Intelligence Agency double-agent Sydney Bristow on the JJ Abrams' Alias.
The new show is the first one for Dunham and Konner since their raunchy "Girls" series ended after six seasons in 2017.
Garner also has another comedy coming up: Love Simon, an adaptation of the 2015 teen novel Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, which follows a gay high school student who is blackmailed into coming out.
