Recently, a group of Hyderabadi Muslim youth filed a police complaint against her song alleging that it hurt their religious sentiments. "We had never meant to hurt anyone through its lyrics, but unfortunately a case has been filed, he said, adding that he was also receiving support from lot of people".
Malayalam actress Priya Prakash Varrier has been all over the internet after a teaser of the "Manikya Malaraya Poovi" song from her debut film Oru Adaar Love went viral for her expressions. The complaint was filed with signatures of at least 57 people with their telephone numbers, and addresses provided to the police.
Mumbai's Raza Academy has also passed a resolution against the movie "Oru Adaar Love" saying one of the movie's songs hurts the sentiments of Muslims.
Priya Prakash Varrier rose to fame and robbed off the hearts of the guys after the clip of the song went viral on the social media. On February 9, the makers had released the song 'Manikya Malaraya Poovi', composed by Shaan Rahman and sung by Vineeth Sreenivasan.
"The police are meticulously investigating the case and appropriate action would be taken against the concerned as per the facts and law", the DCP said. The song names our Prophet's wife, Khadijah Bibi.
Lulu claimed the song had no objectionable reference and said Muslims in a part of Kerala had been singing it for over four decades.
Lulu and Rehman said they were tense after getting some phone calls over the song this afternoon.
As per the complaint, when the lyrics of the song is translated into English, it insults Prophet Syed Faiyaz. "We will proceed based on their opinion..." The song is a typical love song which features school-going couples and budding romance.
