Trump Says He Advocates Arming Only Teachers With Special Training

On Wednesday, Trump hosted a listening session at the White House with the families and survivors of school shootings.

"If you had a teacher who was adept at firearms, that could very well end the attack very quickly", Trump said.

Concealed carry was the subject of the President's morning Twitter missives on Thursday, when he said that he did not support giving all teachers guns but to those with "military or special training experience".

Trump went on to say that schools should become harder targets by no longer being gun-free zones.

Pollio added that he supports students' right to protest, as many students have done throughout the nation.

The meeting took place a week after the mass tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that left 17 people dead and 14 others injured.

The White House meeting was attended by students, their parents and also the parents of victims of other United States school shootings.

Trump listened to Mr Pollack and the students before discussing the plan to arm teachers.

Trump defended his claim by bringing up Aaron Feis, the football coach who sacrificed his life to save three students during the Parkland school shooting.

"We're going to do something about this awful situation that's going on", Trump said during the listening session, per CNN.

"A gun-free zone is, let's go in and let's attack", he said.

However, there were many who thought Trump's idea of arming teachers is only making the situation worse. Cowards won't go there...problem solved.

"We are going to be very strong on background checks, and put a very strong emphasis on the mental health of somebody", he said. Bump stocks are a rifle accessory that uses a gun's inherent recoil force to achieve rapid fire similar that of banned automatic weapons.
