Broncos expected to sign free agent quarterback Case Keenum

Case Keenum, formerly of the Vikings, is heading to the Broncos, which means the Jets are in a three-way race with the Vikings and Cardinals for Kirk Cousins' services.

Free-agent quarterback Case Keenum "intends" to sign with the Broncos, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

McCarron stated that he doesn't want to be a bridge quarterback but get a long-term deal with a team but with the lack of interest in free agency, he might not have a choice.

The knock-on effect of Keenum's move could see last season's Denver starter Trevor Siemian traded or released while the likes of Sam Bradford and Teddy Bridgewater are the other two names who could leave the Vikings and assess their options elsewhere. Brock Osweiler is a free agent and isn't expected back with the Broncos. Denver could opt to supplement Keenum, 30, with a draft pick who has a longer potential future in the league, at least age-wise.

Broncos president of football operations/general manager John Elway had made finding a long-term solution at quarterback the priority of the offseason, after the Broncos limped to a 5-11 finish in 2017 with an offense that finished the season tied for 26th in scoring.

"Even with Peyton, we weren't a for-sure thing with Peyton, " Elway said. That being said, we can get better in a lot of areas, like protecting the quarterback, continuing to run the football better and to play dominant defense.

I do like that it's 15 minutes away rather than the 1,500-mile trek I'd have to make to say thanks.

He also threw a touchdown on the last play of the game to Stefon Diggs to stun the New Orleans Saints in the divisional round of the playoffs. However, that wasn't good enough for him to get drafted. We didn't play very well there past year, and that's not all on the players. There were some things that we should have done, that we should have done differently that we didn't do. This figure and the term of the contract - unlike with Cousins - should not preclude the Broncos from drafting a quarterback fifth overall if they choose to go in that direction. The place I bought my last two cars has delivered zero Super Bowls to my team so far so probably not going back there.
