Griezmann is keen to have his future sorted before the start of the World Cup, having told L´Equipe he hopes "to travel to Russian Federation without concern", and Costa has urged the France worldwide to remain with Atletico.

"I prefer to win instead of playing well", Griezmann told French publication L'Equipe.

"I told my sister that I'd make my decision about staying in Madrid before leaving for Russian Federation". There is also the fact that we were further into the season and [Diego Simeone] gave me more freedom.

Antoine Griezmann now has a contract with Atletico Madrid until 2022, but has been linked with a move to Barcelona.

Atletico are keen to offer a new contract in order to keep Griezmann, and the player insists he will make a decision over his future before the start of the World Cup, which begins on June 14. Then, in January, Diego Costa arrived, which took away a lot of weight.

"We should not be nervous about this, I believe he is happy and wants to continue to play for Atletico beyond this season".

Diego Costa, with whom Griezmann has formed a clinical partnership in the Atlético attack, has revealed the Griezmann asked him to join the Spanish club when he was still at Chelsea. "He knows how important he is to us. For me, the best thing would be for him to stay". He hasn't told me that he is leaving. He is still with us and we hope it stays that way. "He called me a few months ago trying to convince me to return to Atletico, now he can't leave me alone".

"I think that he'll stay", Costa said, while on press duty for the Spain national team at a recent media conference, as quoted by Marca, prompting several in the media to dub it his "Pique se queda" moment.
