"Anyone that goes against the Party's manifesto and agenda won't be tolerated", Said a Senior Party Leader.
Governor NN Vohra has approved PDP's proposal of terminating Drabu from the council of ministers, an official spokesperson said, but it is not clear where the "dream merchant", one of the best economists from J&K who reformed the state budget significantly in his last three budgets, will land on his next assignment.
Speaking on the occasion, NC Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani hit out at the PDP for "fooling" the people of the State for nearly two decades by seeking their personal political empowerment by exploiting the political sentiment that they are now openly ridiculing.
"First the PDP violated the mandate of 2014 by entering into an opportunistic alliance with a party it had sought votes against and today the same party finally lets the cat out of the bag by declaring everything it stood for till now was apparently akin to "barking up the wrong tree" as said by Dr. Haseeb Drabu". The Kashmiri society faces "social issues" and the problem should be treated as such, Drabu claimed at an event organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in New Delhi on March 9.
The Opposition leader said there could be no progress till the Kashmir conflict is resolved.
After Mufti Sayeed passed away, there were reports of cracks within the party.
Malik alleged "Drabu renounced resistance movement for his petty selfish gain and switched over to other side of the divide and joined Indian political system".
Acknowledging the difficulties in taking the resolution issue speedily forward, he said PDP feels highly perturbed at the obvious lack of urgency in resolving this issue and reiterates its commitment to uphold Party "s stated objectives in which the resolution of the political issue has a paramount importance".
"The party takes serious note of the statement made reportedly by Haseeb A Drabu in a function at New Delhi regarding the nature of problems in J-K and has asked the minister to retract the statement immediately if it has been reported correctly in the media", PDP vice-president Mohammad Sartaj Madni had said here.
This, however, failed to impress the party leadership, which chose to sack Drabu. The decision was later conveyed to Governor N.N. Vohra. He said that time has come to expose these charlatans who for their petty interests are harming the national interests of the people of Jammu Kashmir. Sources said the party workers had complained that the former finance minister was ignoring even his own constituency.
