Below is the reasoning why Sami Zayn winning the match at Fastlane is best for the business.
The two women had some solid back and forth encounters, and while the Becky/Naomi/ Riott Squad stuff felt a bit unwanted, it didn't really take away from what was a solid match.
Watching both teams steal each other's finishes and spots was excellent storytelling, and I would have loved for them to work a full match with a payoff to this feud that the fans deserve. Good stuff to open the show.
Come join us for a show that, whether titles change or not, should have a few worthwhile matches on it.
I was scared this match would have been boring because this was the first time these guys have faced each other in a one-on-one match. However, I don't think the match is going to end cleanly. Jinder and Orton have a history of delivering bad matches in the ring together, so here's hoping Roode can help elevate them in New Orleans.
At the end though, Randy Orton delivered an wonderful RKO to win the US Title for the very first time in his career.
Finally, Carmella and Natalya beat Becky Lynch and Naomi in a tag team match when Carmella dropped Lynch with a big boot for the win and on the pre-show, Tye Dillinger and Breezango beat Shelton Benjamin, Chad Gable and Mojo Rawley as The Perfect Ten pinned Rawley with a double shot of knees to the face.
Asuka vs Charlotte Flair is one of the marquee matches in today's women's wrestling and overall in the entire WWE as well. After a blockbuster pay per view in the form of Fastlane, two matches have been added to the Wrestlemania card. The announcement was made on Raw that the Raw, SmackDown and NXT's Women's divisions will compete in the battle royal in honor of the WWE Hall of Famer.
Ruby Riott never actually earned this match; she just annoyed Charlotte Flair enough into getting it.
SmackDown women's champion Charlotte Flair also has her Wrestlemania match confirmed, after Raw star and women's Royal Rumble victor Asuka announced that she would be challenging Charlotte next month.
I was pretty surprised to see Big E not be part of the match. It was an overbooked match, but it was still fast and entertaining.
McMahon then denied both Zayn and Owens later on as he pulled the referee out of the ring after Owens hit a pop-up powerbomb on Ziggler and followed up by pulling Zayn out to prevent him from pinning Ziggler after a Heluva kick.
I do hope Danial Bryan turns Heel, and form a faction with Owens and Zayn!
I also laughed at how many times John Cena did the Attitude Adjustment in this match. Later in the match, Styles finds the flawless opportunity to hit the Phenomenal Forearm to retain his title and securing his spot at WrestleMania.
