Mayor Bobby Hocking presented a proclamation to 18-year-old Evoni Williams at her Waffle House location. Evoni is working at Waffle House in order to save up for college.
The heroin Evoni Williams has reportedly been working full-time to earn money for further study in a restaurant in La Marque, Texas, the United States.
A customer, Laura Wolf at the Waffle House witnessed the whole random act of kindness and wrote on Facebook, "Without hesitation, she took his plate and began cutting up his ham".
"It's something I would do any other day", she told KVUE-TV. If we could all be like this waitress & take time to offer a helping hand. "Somebody tagged me and it immediately, it just touched my heart", he said.
She also received a $16,000 scholarship donated by Texas Southern University - a life-changing gift for a girl who still says she did nothing special.
"We wanted to reward Evoni's act of kindness and let her know that good deeds do not go unnoticed", Melinda Spaulding, an administrator at Texas Southern University was quoted by CNN as saying. As of Sunday, more than 130,000 people had reacted to the Facebook post and almost 7,000 have shared it.
A 18-year-old USA girl gained unexpected appreciation and a surprise after she gave "extra help" to an elderly man in the restaurant she was working.
A representative for the university said, "Your act of kindness is exactly the kind of student we want at Texas Southern University". "It's so wonderful that the younger generation cares about the older generation". He said Williams' act of kindness reflects the sense of community his staff tries to serve alongside each hot meal. But on this particular day a customer waiting to be seated caught the gentle gesture between Williams and Charpentier on her smartphone and uploaded it to her Facebook page.
