Welcome back, "American Idol": Luke, Katy & Lionel find talent in four cities

"I really do feel like I redeemed myself from that very bad performance", Harper said of her anthem disaster.

A quick trip back to NY, and it's a "yes" for 16-year-old Zach Denofrio, who has a high-pitched speaking voice but turns into a Frank Sinatra-type crooner when he sings.

Watching a young Kelly Clarkson tell Ryan Seacrest that she was planning on becoming a fashion designer if the whole singing thing didn't work out is shocking now, but no one was more shocked than judges Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul during the show's inaugural season. "I chose to sing Adele, 'All I Ask". But Alyssa proved what I've said countless times - it doesn't matter how old you are because talent is talent.

She did, but it wasn't quite enough. The crop of talent was better than that of The Voice and The X-Factor and the format, with intimate auditions set in across the USA, allowed for the contestants' real, observable growth. Some truly incredible voices-and some pretty unique ones, too-got their chance to sing for the judges and earn that coveted golden ticket to Hollywood. "It's not your language it's just for us".

"With this experience being my last experience with American Idol, it was huge for me". Before performing his piece for the panel, the 19-year-old admitted he has never had a girlfriend and has also never had a kiss on the lips.

"The life of a musician has its ups and downs, it's adventurous". I went inside and thought about it and came back outside and I told her I was going to do it.

It's been a long American Idol journey and one that's opened a lot of doors for Julica.

There was definitely some awkwardness as the three judges stepped out onto the floor to bust a move, and then things got even more awkward when Perry slipped and fell. Lionel can't seem to get Ron out of his head, though, and he brings him back to change his vote to "yes". "Nothing's gonna stop me from pushing toward my dream".

The show is on Sundays and Mondays from 7-9pm.
