African Superstar On PFA Player Of The Year Shortlist


Liverpool forward Salah and Manchester City midfielder De Bruyne have been shortlisted alongside two of the latter's team-mates, Leroy Sane and David Silva, Tottenham striker Harry Kane and Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.

Sane's exceptional season means he is also up for the Young Player of the Year award, alongside teammates Raheem Sterling and Ederson.

Despite his goalscoring exploits this term, Salah faces a stiff competition from Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne in the race for the end of the season biggest individual prize.

The winners will be announced on Monday 23 April at the PFA Awards.

The six-man young players' list also contains three City players, with 22-year-old Germany worldwide Sane nominated alongside England forward Raheem Sterling, 23, and Brazil goalkeeper Ederson Moraes, 24.

Belgian star De Bruyne has a league-leading 15 assists while Silva has 11, and when it comes to goals they have seven and eight respectively.

De Bruyne has been outstanding in City's march towards the Premier League title.

"Even Thierry Henry, possibly the greatest player ever to grace the Premier League, only got 39 goals in his most prolific season ever".

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea completes the shortlist.

Mohamed Salah has been in sensational form Liverpool this season, having registered 29 goals and five assists in the Premier League this season.

The left-back-cum-winger has been the key man as the Cottagers have enjoyed a brilliant season in the second tier, and they look well set to gain promotion, either by finishing second or winning the play-offs.
