It marks the first 2D Castlevania game since 2010's Harmony of Despair, and like that entry it has a focus on online co-op.

Game company Konami recently announced that a new game title from the Castlevania series will be coming to a mobile platform.

At the moment of this writing, the release date is still to be determined. These include legends such as Alucard, Shanoa, Maria Renard, Charlotte Aulin and, of course, Simon Belmont.

"The grimoire went out of control, and Count Dracula has been revived", it said.

But to be fair to them, this new mobile game does seem to show a surprising amount of effort, considering their general attitude after booting out Hideo Kojima and releasing Metal Gear Survive.

Exhilarating battles where up to four players can cooperate. Strengthen your favorite character and take on the powerful enemies that block your path forward!

The story is apparently set in a future where Dracula's castle has been destroyed but - wouldn't you know it - his fans are trying to resurrect him.

As you can see, the graphics look quite good, if a little antiseptic, but there's also a four-player boss rush mode and a separate four-player competitive mode. However other characters from Castlevanias past will also be available.

The protagonist Arika is a mysterious man part of an organization belonging to the government. Today, only a handful of people are known as their unique identity, as the only being with the ability of vs. Dracula. Although she is young, her skill as a researcher of magic is considerable, and she supports Arika through her studies. And Konami is teasing that Grimoire of Souls will utilize iconic songs from Castlevania games past as its soundtrack. It is her laboratory that Mr. Arima is staying.
