The 44-year-old Rangers pitcher was flawless through seven innings against the Astros before walking Carlos Correa on a 3-1 pitch to leadoff the eighth inning.

Still, it was an absolutely incredible effort against the best lineup in baseball, and from a 44-year-old pitcher! He went to an 0-2 count against 10 of the first 18 batters he faced.

Opposing fans in Houston gave Colon a standing ovation, and he clapped his bare hand softly against the outside of his glove. He was embraced by teammates and coaches upon returning to the dugout. Nolan Ryan was also 44 when he threw a no-hitter, but over 150 days younger.

The beefy Colon struck out seven.

The Rangers removed Colon after throwing 7.2 innings.

Bartolo Colon lost his bid for a no-hitter against the World Series champion Houston Astros when Josh Reddick doubled with nobody out in the eighth inning Sunday night.

Two outs later, Colon was pulled with the score tied at 1.

Colon finished the game with a line of 7.2 innings pitched, seven strikeouts, one hit, one walk and one earned run.
