A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 16, 11:30 a.m.at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A.in Cambridge, with Rev. Steve Bloodsworth officiating. The family moved to MI where he grew up and graduated from Muskegon High School.
She was predeceased by her first husband, John Maki; her second husband, Bill Matson; and a sister, Brenda Mead. Church in Marquette. He worked as a carpenter around Hamilton County until he retired. But, let it be known that when Vi wasn't working at the store, writing her latest "Quotable Quotes" Column for the T.H., or spending her time with church activities, she was continually discovering her true goal in this life: loving her family. In 1994, Bernice moved to Story City, to be closer to her oldest daughter and family.
He will be missed dearly by all of his family and friends.
She was formerly employed as an inspector with GTE Sylvania in Pleasantville for 33 years. Blessed be her memory.
Donna is also survived by two brothers, Floyd Baumler of Rochester, and Arlan Baumler (Karen) of Zumbro Falls; and two sisters, Diane Schmelzer (Paul) of Ridgeway, Iowa, and Sharon Wiltgen of Gaylord, Minn.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Buddy Harrison Batten. She leaves behind her grandchildren, Brennan, Sean, Tanner, Kaytee, Eli, and Katya; and great-grandchildren, Noah and Ella. She was saved during a Sunday service at Lindley Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery in Branson.
