Jackson Goes From Cardinal to Raven

While he received some rave reviews during the pre-draft process, a handful of teams in need of a quarterback still elected to pass on him in the draft.

Jackson burst on the college football scene in 2016, throwing for 3,543 yards and 30 touchdowns and adding 1,571 yards on the ground and 21 scores.

Then Newsome jumped back into the fray after it seemed the Ravens were done.

If Jackson is able to develop his pass accuracy a bit, he can be a scary player, but even if he isn't, we've seen highly-athletic quarterbacks with powerful arms and slight accuracy issues have a lot of success in the NFL (Vick come to mind).

Ravens officials insisted Joe Flacco remains their starter and cautioned anyone from jumping to conclusions that Jackson would soon replace the Super Bowl-winning quarterback.

An offense built to use Jackson's unique and special talents to their fullest could be one of the most impressive and impactful in the NFL.

"One of the things [we've targed], since we were down in Florida back in January [for the annual front office planning meeting] was playmakers; guys that can make critical plays in situations".

"Let's go man!" he said.

Despite ending up in an ideal situation for his long term development, the 2016 Heisman Trophy victor was clearly irked by his slide right down to the bottom of the first round.

Lamar Jackson was selected by the Baltimore Ravens after the team traded its second- and fourth-round picks for 2018 and its second-round pick for next year's draft to the Philadelphia Eagles, who surrendered the 32nd overall pick and a fourth-round pick.

The Ravens made a splash in the first round, trading three separate times to select tight end Hayden Hurst at pick No. 25 and quarterback Lamar Jackson at pick No. 32. The same, however, could be said for the other four quarterbacks selected in the first round, and all of them were taken within the first 10 picks of the draft.

However, there are problems with Jackson's game. "I'm just honored to be where I'm at right now".

"They're going to get a Super Bowl out of me", he said.

Newsome also offered free agent Dez Bryant a multi-year contract, but the former Dallas Cowboys star rejected the bid. Baltimore, which went 9-7 last season and missed the playoffs for the fourth time in five years, needed to find a difference maker.

"What happened in that room was a masterpiece", Harbaugh said.
