Mata: Still much to play for this season

Manchester City have defeated every single team this season in the Premier League - only the third time that a Premier League team have done this in a single campaign (Manchester United in 2010-11 and Chelsea in 2005-06).

However, on Sunday, United looked lazy and uninspired and one mistake during the match cost them a humiliating defeat against the bottom-placed West Brom. But I expect you to be consistent, ' Mourinho said.

"We were masters in complicated football, everything was complicated", said Mourinho.

Manchester City are now 16 points ahead of 2nd placed side Manchester United - the Premier League record points gap between 1st and 2nd place at the end of a season is now 18 points by Manchester United in 1999-00. "In my opinion, it affected for sure some of the people that were too happy just with that", United manager explained.

Manchester City were always going to be favourites this year, a no-nonsense turnover of players and signings such as Bernardo Silva and Kyle Walker were never going to make them any worse but Manchester United fans expected their team to put up a bit more of a fight.

A 73rd minute header from Jay Rodriguez gave Albion, who appear doomed to relegation, their first away win in 16 outings and just their fourth victory of the season. They lost only two matches because they were the best team.

"With my experience you don't titles with inconsistency".

"We didn't want [to play] or couldn't play simple, everything was slow, one more flick, trick, turn".

Jose Mourinho has stressed that Manchester United will not "do anything crazy" in the transfer market this summer in a bid to close the gap on Manchester City. "The amount of goals, chances and points, to do that in the Premier League, with the contenders we have, is because the players are so good".

"We are a team that has already more points than last season, a team that's had brilliant matches and a team that showed character many times".

He said: "We've got faith in one another, the players, the staff. Things have gone a bit by the wayside this year".

"You can't take (winning the league) for granted, I've won three now but there's so many we've missed", he said.

"Come on City! Champions!" They won the title because they were the best team, because they won a great amount of points.

Despite the win, West Brom remained in the 20th spot of the EPL table with 24 points.
