As you might expect, this speedier chipset requires more power.

In terms of camera, the S9 possesses a 12-megapixel f/2.4 and f/1.5 aperture camera just like the S9+ plus a 12-megapixel secondary camera. This device is expected to boast a 6.1-inch panel, therefore sitting between both the regular iPhone Xs and Xs Plus variant, and should also adopt the design language of last year's iPhone X. This means that the physical home button is expected to be removed entirely in favor of the on- screen gestures, while TouchID will be replaced by FaceID.

Samsung could begin manufacturing OLED displays for this year's iPhone lineup as early as May.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims the Galaxy Note 9 would not feature an in-display fingerprint solution because Samsung is still experiencing "technological difficulties" with the feature.

What's more, Samsung says that students who complete the College Scholastic Ability Test - a college-entrance exam taken in South Korea - after 2019 and 2020 will be able to trade-in their feature-lacking J2 Pro for a Galaxy S, Note, or A Series phone.

The Note 9 is expected to retain the 3.5mm headphone jack and the Bixby button. Meanwhile, the flagship is certain to come up with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor paired with 6GB RAM. Samsung's mobile business head DJ Koh has told media that the Galaxy Note 9 would come with an upgraded Bixby 2.0 AI assistant.

Samsung already has a stellar line-up of devices with its Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S9 flagships considered to be some of the best smartphones money can buy. Some details about the Galaxy Note 9 have surfaced online and a report by popular leaker Evan Blass reveals the codename the flagship device will carry. According to Twitter tipster Ice Universe, the handset would pack a 4,000mAh or 3,850mAh battery.

This Note 9 battery news comes at a bad time for Samsung.
