The first game will feature the Crimson Tide traveling to Austin, Texas for a game September 10, 2022, with the Longhorns making the return trip to Tuscaloosa a year later on September 9, 2023. Said Byrne "Announced the Texas deal that was a big get for our program to have Texas come in to Bryant Denny Stadium in the future".

Alabama announced a home-and-home football series with the University of Texas in 2022-2023. UCF officials confirmed there are no plans to reschedule the game. The Longhorns will push a home-and-home series with Ohio State from those years back to 2025-2026. Texas typically only schedules home games or two-for-one games with non-Power 5 opponents.

Texas holds a 7-1-1 record in the all-time series.

The Crimson Tide beat the Longhorns in the Rose Bowl to win the 2009 season national championship. The last meeting on either school's home field was in 1922, when Alabama traveled to Austin. "The Crimson Tide and Longhorns have played a lot of memorable games over the years and the addition of this home-and-home series will be great for not only our fans, but fans of college football".
