That event will be taking place in NY at 10:00 AM local time.
Blackberry will unveil its next smartphone, the Blackberry Key2 on June 7. The branding of KEY2 is pretty interesting, with new Blackberry KEY2 logo with a numeral "2" rather than two spelled out, like the company did with KEYone.
The invitation apparently includes the tag "an icon reborn", so don't be entirely surprised if the Key 2 is somewhat nostalgic in design, at least compared to most modern smartphones. A handset, under the codename "Athena" had appeared on a Chinese certification site named TENAA last month.
BlackBerry Mobile revealed the BlackBerry Key2 launch date through its official Twitter account.
The listing by TENAA showcased a dual rear camera setup on a Blackberry handset bearing model number BBF100-4.
Back in April, an image surfaced of what was believed to be the KEY2, the successor to BlackBerry's KEYone. Further information also revealed that the device supports 4G LTE and comes with dual-SIM slots. On the top, there will be a 3.5mm audio jack, while at the bottom, there might be a USB Type-C port. The keys on the full QWERTY keyboard of the handset also have a matte finish. The phone will reportedly be powered by the Snapdragon 660 mobile platform; the sequel will have 6GB of RAM, twice the amount that came with the first generation KEYone.
