Dog rescues his friend from drowning in pool in Mesa

Smokey fell into a backyard pool May 1 and was in danger of drowning, according to owner Laurie Becerra.

An Arizona household filmed a exceptional video that confirmed a canine save his buddy who fell right into a pool and struggled to get out.

Laurie, and her husband Jay Becerra, have a camera outside their home that records for 24 hours, Laurie said in a Facebook post.

"Remus may be a insane pup but he's got a heart of gold!" My best friend cried when we sent him the video.

Smokey is seen reaching up out of the water and using his paws to help pull himself out with Remus' help. "He said that the dog is a real certified lifeguard".

Then suddenly, a splash, and Remus is in the water too.

After pacing back and forth several times outside of the pool right above Smokey, Remus makes several attempts to try and get his friend onto dry land but finally jumps in.

But Remus, seeing his dog pal in trouble, instead jumped into the pool and gave him a boost up onto the ledge.

She added the dogs often play near the pool without incident. "Smokey can swim just not well", Laurie Becerra wrote on Facebook.
