Although news about a new Lando film is popping up everywhere on the internet, as of this writing, there is no concrete plan for it.
Solo: A Star Wars Story theatre drops in theatres nearly one week from now. "I think it's time, certainly, for that, and I love the fluidity - sort of the spectrum of sexuality that Donald appeals to and that droids are a part of".
"In a role that demands greatness, he is, in a word, okay", wrote Nick Schager of The Daily Beast, adding that the movie "sacrifices Han Solo's swagger for a bland origin story". Lucasfilm chalked it up to a misunderstanding between Kennedy and the reporter.
A Lando fan as a child, Glover said he was determined to land the role, despite the seemingly slim chances. You'd join any scheme Lando asked of you, and apparently, I'm not alone on that daydream. Are you excited? What do you want from a Lando movie?
And so it seems that we can all look forward to more Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian down the road, at some point, eventually. Lucasfilm has clearly been long aware of his appeal, as the video of Glover giving a tour of Lando's Millennium Falcon (cape room included) was created to give fans exactly what they want.
Solo now has a so-so critic score of 72% on Rotten Tomatoes. We'll always show up for Han and Chewie, but the early buzz suggests Lucasfilm picked the wrong sidekick to take center stage. I've literally not seen the movie yet so I don't know about the amount of Lando within, but I assume there's a lot yet never enough, if you know what I mean.
Solo: A Star Wars Story is released on May 25.
The star has had an incredible year. If he has the energy and the inspiration to explore the morally gray schemes of Calrissian, we would be wise to heed him.
