David Beckham has always seemed like a good sport. In yet another bit of viral marketing for Deadpool 2, Ryan Reynolds offered up a mea culpa to the retired soccer superstar for a hilarious quip from the original 2016 hit in which he joked Beckham "mouth-sexed a can of helium". It's not enough though.
Just then, Deadpool himself shows up at the door to offer an apology, though Beckham slams the door in his face... a couple of times. Luckily, Deadpool was already prepared with a few backup plans.
He later brings a mariachi band to serenade Beckham but the only thing that works is tickets to a football game. The promo ends with both Deadpool and Beckham sitting on Beckham's couch in silent disdain for one another.
"I can't wait to not watch Italy play the Netherlands", the Regenerating Degenerate says as Berlin's "Take My Breath Away" plays in the background.
Reynolds is reprising his role as the Merc with a Mouth in Deadpool 2 alongside Zazie Beetz as the luck-manipulating mutant Domino and Josh Brolin as Cable, the time-traveling son of the X-Men's Cyclops. Ever heard Dave Beckham speak?
Beckham also claims that he does not know what Deadpool is apologising for but tells him there is "a list" and reels off a barrage of Reynolds' less successful projects, saying: "Green Lantern, R.I.P.D, Self/less, Blade: Trinity, Boltneck".
