He has scored both awesome and vital goals throughout the season which has seen Liverpool all but guarantee a top-four finish in the Premier League, and also come within 90 minutes of reaching the Champions League final.

Impressive Mohamed Salah can win the 2018 Ballon d'Or if he leads Liverpool to Uefa Champions League triumph this season, according to club legend Mark Lawrenson.

The Egyptian winger also won the Football Writers' Association's Footballer of the Year award on Tuesday.

Not sure every Liverpool would completely agree with that opinion.

"Without a doubt, you can compare Salah to Messi".

Salah led the Egyptian national team to the 2018 World Cup in Russian Federation, scoring five goals in six games, including two goals in the last game against Congo, ending Egypt's 28 years of absence from the World Cup.

He has four Champions League and eight Spanish League titles to his credit so far, with many other domestic league titles.

One of these clubs is Real Madrid, with Zinedine Zidane confirming months ago he rates Salah very highly.

"When we had Suarez and Torres, we thought they were as good as anyone around", Carragher admitted. I think about all those top players who have come from overseas and had a brilliant first season in the Premier League - the likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy and Fernando Torres.

Since moving from AS Roma in the summer for a bargain price of £36.9 million, Mohamed Salah has taken England and Europe by storm.
