National Basketball Association draft lottery: Reaction around the league, and what's next

Ayton's shortcomings on defense have left open the possibility that the Suns could take Doncic. It seems like they want to try to turn that pick into something else.

The Grizzlies are woefully short on depth and would like to add another player, or short of that, add another draft pick for next season. I just don't see the Suns giving this pick up. Ayton is actually a bit ahead at this point, with the Consensus Mock Draft noting that more analysts have gone with him as the guy that the Suns will pick.

Last year's first-round pick, Josh Jackson, had a tremendous rookie season.

Stevens had no idea of the value the four first-round picks would reap.

"I brought as much luck as I could bring", Pitman said, per Weitzman.

With the Lakers staying put, the pick will now stay with the Sixers and won't be shipping up to Boston this go-around. The GM says NY is 'in talent acquisition mode.' "We've got to get the highest level of talent that we can get on our roster and we'll figure out all of the positions once they get in there", he said on Alan Hahn's "Hahn Solo" radio show on ESPN 98.7 FM.

So how do they go about it?

"CSKA are a great team with so many good players and we will need to produce a ideal game to beat them", said Doncic, who has Serbian roots and was hoping for a warm welcome despite putting Serbia to the sword in the European Championship final. The No. 1 pick does not guarantee a return to relevance next season, but it makes their future a lot brighter and gives Booker a reason to believe in general manager Ryan McDonough's plan. As usually, BetDSI Sportsbook has released the odds for the players that will have the highest chances of being selected as the overall No.1 pick in this year's draft. One could be talked into taking either one of these prospects, as they both have skills ready for the league and have tremendously high ceilings.

Many assume that Phoenix will take Doncic at No. 1, as the 19-year-old has demonstrated an unreal feel for the game at a professional level overseas, possessing a smooth-as-silk offensive game, complete with a deadly three-point shot.

Drafting a big and four-year guard would save money that could then be spent on more talented veteran players. Redick comes to mind.

Coincidently, the Mavs also took off as a franchise during that stretch as they advanced to the playoffs 15 out of 16 years from 2001 through 2016. He's a vocal leader, and he's going to score.

Ayton declined an invitation to participate in the combine this week in Chicago.

With the Kings leaving the draft lottery as winners, it definitely has left the team's fanbase to go insane in the social media world.

Cleveland had a 2.8 percent chance of getting the No. 1 pick and a 9.9 percent chance of landing one in the top three.

That means Memphis will look to move down, likely with a wing - small forwards Mikal Bridges or Miles Bridges, most likely - in mind.

Phoenix was always expected to opt for Ayton if they landed the number one pick but that now doesn't look like a foregone conclusion after their new head coaching appointment. I know for myself, working out, I think about that all the time.
