Or so says Grant Dillion, who captured a now-viral video of a pelican that swooped down during a graduation ceremony at California's Pepperdine University and managed to disrupt it royally.
Their dramatic descent, however, brought graduation proceedings to a halt as the large birds menaced the crowd. The crowd can be heard shouting in surprise and one man is nearly bitten as he tries to capture the bird.
One proactive security guard attempts to draw the whole incident to a close and send the birds packing, but the pesky pelican is having none of it - biting the man he attempts to pick it up.
One of the birds attempted to take a seat next to family members and other guests watching the ceremony, but the animals quickly realized they were not welcome when the attendees shooed the birds off the field. (YouTube: Grant Dillion) The pelican waddled away from the ceremony.
The author of the video joked that when a university is located on the Pacific Ocean's shore, "at some point pelicans are bound to crash your graduation".
The pelican eventually makes its way on to the red carpet as university staff try to usher the bird away.
