Henry County Deputy Police Chief Mike Ireland said T.I. was arrested around 4:30 a.m. after he got into an argument with a security guard.

According to WSB-TV in Atlanta, police say that T.I.at one point asked the guard, "Don't you know who I am?"

Police from Henry County, located just outside Atlanta, said to local media that T.I.

"The guard continued to refuse entry without justification", the lawyer's statement said.

T.I. was also arrested, charged with disorderly conduct, and public drunkenness.

According to officials, the unidentified friend had an outstanding warrant and was placed under arrest. The rapper had allegedly forgotten his key but the security guard would not let him into the gated neighborhood, which resulted in an argument.

Sadow said T.I. identified himself and sought entry, but the guard refused. T.I. was taken into custody on misdemeanor charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct, and public drunkenness.

It's not the first time T.I. has run afoul of authorities.

"It took Tip some time to wake up the sleeping guard", Sadow wrote. "In regard to the assault charge, the rapper clarified that while there was a "very heated debate" between the two, things did not turn physical, adding, "[He] may have been hurt by my words". He says he demanded the guard's name, but the guy refused. Tip was in contact with [his wife] "Tiny" by phone and "Tiny" confirmed that Tip should be let in immediately. The Henry County Police Department was then called to the scene. Holmes was arrested on outstanding charges out of Clayton County and for not having proof of vehicle insurance. Attorney Sadow says the officers had no interest in "hearing Tip's side of the story and wrongfully chose to end the situation by arresting Tip".

Since his release, T.I. has addressed the issue in an Instagram livestream while attending his son's classroom birthday celebration in which he referred to the arrest as "nonsense" and "small potatoes."
