Recovering Neymar included in Brazil's World Cup squad

Neymar, 26, had an operation on a fractured metatarsal in March and the Brazil team doctor said he would be out of action for three months.

It led to doubts over whether Neymar would be fit for the World Cup, where Brazil face Switzerland, Costa Rica and Serbia in Group E.

Brazil coach Tite has already announced his final 23-man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, with world-record transfer Neymar headlining his selection.

Iran announced its squad for the 2018 World Cup late Sunday, with two midfield stars making the cut despite being banned a year ago for playing against an Israeli team.

"We will be much stronger with Neymar doing well, but for him to do well the rest of the team has to be well, too", he said.

Under new manager Tite, Brazil became the first nation to qualify after running riot in the notoriously hard South American qualifiers.

The only one of those 15 not in Monday's final squad was Dani Alves, who has been ruled out of the tournament with a knee ligament injury.

He has been replaced by Manchester City right-back Danilo, while Neymar recovered in time to be named in Tite's selection. "We have to concentrate on preparing", Tite said.

"Coutinho can play in the middle and in the flanks, he is versatile", Tite said. "The challenge is open on the right back, but Danilo has some advantage now because he has performed well recently".

Neymar should be able to "regain match fitness" when he takes part in friendlies against Croatia on June 3 and Austria on June 10, Lasmar said.

The inclusion of Taison, the coach admitted, suggested Coutinho could be taking a role in central midfield and leaving his spot for Willian.
