WhatsApp admins have been given a new control under group settings that allows them to do a bunch of things that includes restricting who can change the groups's icon, description or subject.
We are not always on our phones and in the commute home from work for example, you might switch on your data and get bombarded by conversations on WhatsApp.
A series of changes to WhatsApp group chat will be coming soon that will change how users interact with one another. "We've also introduced protection so users can't be repeatedly added to groups they've left", the company explained. While many may not be aware, WhatsApp has rolled out some group specific features as well.
The features are available for Android and iPhone users today.
Hopefully the issues with WhatsApp group chat and the unpopular shutdown of legitimate chat rooms is addressed moving forward, but overall the implementation of the features seems to be a positive change that will continue ushering the app forward into a more modern experience that can continue to outclass the competition. This feature can be found under "Group Info". Group description is available for both iOS and Android users. WhatsApp is also adding a participant search tool, which makes finding individuals easier. When a new person joins a group, the description will show up at the top of the chat. The latest update comes after the chat app gained compatibility with Instagram and Facebook videos, a feature announced during parent company Facebook's F8 conference last week.
WhatsApp has also started giving more control to group admins.
You'll now be able to find anyone in a group (especially in those large groups) by searching for them on the group info page. Administrators can revoke admin permissions and also prevent the group's creator from being removed from the group. At the same time group creators can not be removed from the group they have started.
