Xiaomi launching new smartphone on June 7, will it be Redmi S2?

Xiaomi set up its first SMT unit in Tamil Nadu in April 2018 in collaboration with Foxcon to begin assembly of PCBs in India.

IPO candidate Xiaomi Inc. consolidated its position as India's leading smartphone brand in the first quarter of 2018, while the struggling Lenovo dropped out of the fast-growing market's top-five vendor list for the first time in four years, according to data-tracking firm IDC. All this points to the launch of the Redmi Y2 that is likely to be the successor to the Redmi Y1, which was launched in November with selfie-centric features, including an LED selfie-light.

Wait no more, Xiaomi has announced the Xiaomi Redmi S2, an wonderful selfie smartphone. That said, while it is expected that the Xiaomi Redmi S2 India launch will take place on June 7, the Mi A2 could arrive at a later date.

On the specifications front, the dual-SIM (Nano) Redmi S2 runs Android-based MIUI 9 and features a 5.99-inch HD+ (720×1440 pixels) display with a 70.8 percent NTSC colour gamut. It is powered by a 2GHz Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor with Adreno 506 GPU. "Huawei's Honor 9 Lite also made into the top 5 online models in its debut quarter 2018Q1", says Jaipal Singh, Senior Market Analyst, IDC India. The Redmi S2 gets a dual camera setup at the rear consisting of a 12-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel secondary shooter. With the launch of the new division, the company is looking planning to enhance the camera experience. Additionally, handsets like Mi S-series, Redmi 6-series, Redmi A-series, and more have been listed. For selfies, it comes with a 16 Megapixel front camera with LED flash. The phone was launched in China on May 10. Redmi Y1 was launched in India in November at a starting price of Rs 8,999 for the 32GB variant, while the 4GB RAM version was priced at Rs 10,999.

Additionally, alongside this phone, two new handsets named the Redmi 6 Plus and Redmi 6a Plus are also mentioned under the Redmi 6 series in the leaked listing. Hence, the users are very delighted to hear about the new Redmi S2. The phone also has a fingerprint sensor at the back located at the right side of the camera. Just like in China, the device should be available in Gold, Rose Gold, and Gray color options.
