This makes Infinity War the fourth film in movie history to earn such a distinction.
Of Infinity War's $2 billion-plus worldwide total, $1.346 billion came from overseas sales, which even contains boosts from the normally Marvel-resistant movie market of China, where it made an astounding (for China, ) $369.7 million, making it the country's third-biggest box office haul. It holds the record for biggest domestic debut ever with $257.7 million in its opening weekend on April 27 to April 29, topping "The Force Awakens" by almost $10 million.
It's a bit interesting that this list of $2 billion movies now strictly belongs to either Disney films or films directed by James Cameron.
Infinity War worldwide is Marvel's highest release ever topping 2012's Avengers ($1.5 billion), and followed by Avengers: Age of Ultron ($1.4 billion) and Black Panther ($1.345 billion). Domestically the film notched $6.8 million this last weekend, and internationally the film pulled in another $10.9 million.
Hawkeye, played by actor Jeremy Renner, was absent from most of the marketing material for Avengers: Infinity War and did not appear in the final film, leaving many fans curious about the character's whereabouts and well-being. All of those films were released over the winter holidays. It's safe to assume that it will, but it was safe to assume that Solo was going to be a big box office hit as well...and it wasn't. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artifacts to inflict his twisted will on reality.
Although he didn't appear in Infinity War, the Russo brothers previously claimed Hawkeye's absence is "tied into the story", so it's possible he'll appear in Avengers 4.
