The Vivo NEX will be available in China, though no word on pricing yet nor any plans for global availability. Some of the Nex S's most noteworthy features - like its in-display fingerprint sensor - will surely make their way to more widely-available phones in due time. It's unknown what amount of RAM and storage it will come with but it's expected to have a price tag in the region of US$600. That display measures in at 6.59 inches, and it's a 1080p HD+ OLED panel. The Vivo Nex is a mid-range smartphone powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset, whereas the Vivo Nex Ultimate gets the more powerful Snapdragon 845 chipset.
The phone also has Vivo Game Engine, which is made in partnership with Tencent Games.
Vivo NEX will be out in China soon. Vivo has managed to do that by adding a sliding front-facing camera module and replacing the earpiece with Cantilever Piezoelectric earpiece, same as the Xiaomi Mi Mix. We can consider this as a truly bezel-less device because of the very small bezels. While both the variants come with the same design, only the flagship edition comes with pop-up selfie camera and in-display fingerprint scanner. Further, the Vivo NEX also features 7.1-channel 3D audio, thanks to dtsX partnership. NEX demonstrates Vivo's determination to test the limits and break industry conventions. On the back side, there's a dual camera setup which consists of 12-megapixel sensors, primary being a Sony IMX363 sensor with 1.4μm pixels, f/1.8 aperture, and four-axis optical image stabilization and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor.
The phone's pièce de résistance is the retractable 8MP front camera.
Vivo is touting the AI capabilities of the NEX, with the phone offering AI-assisted scene recognition, HDR, filters, and photo composition. The phone is running Android 8.1 Oreo, so that's a good thing to know. Vivo has also added a 4000mAh battery. There is a dedicated button beside the camera that triggers the voice assistant on the long-press action.
The concept phone Vivo announced MWC 2018 had a 98% screen-to-body ratio, and the Nex is a big step for forward to achieving that goal on a phone you can actually buy.
Based on the launch, the Vivo NEX that is equipped with the Snapdragon 710 chipset will be priced at RMB3839 (~RM2394) while the Vivo NEX equipped with the Snapdragon 845 will be priced at RMB4498 (~RM2805) and RMB4998 (~RM3117) for the 128GB variant and 256GB variant respectively.
