John Cena Joins Jackie Chan in Project X


Jackie Chan and John Cena are teaming up for a new action entertainer tentatively titled "Project X" for which the former also seves as a producer.

Reportedly, Jackie Chan, who has acted in over 150 films will portray the character of a Chinese private security contractor who is tasked with extracting oil workers from a refinery that is been attacked. Cena has replaced Sylvester Stallone who was previously attached to the project. Chan's character teams up with Cena's character, a former Marine, to stop the attackers after discovering that their real plan is to steal a fortune in oil. The Marine had been fooled into thinking he was working to seize illegally gotten Chinese assets before he learns he was had and partners up with the Snow Leopard Commando. This is just one of a few non-comedic roles Cena is trying on for size, including a co-starring part in the upcoming Transformers spin-off, Bumblebee, and the Robert Ludlum Extended Universe entry, The Janson Directive.

There is no word at this time on when Project X will begin filming.
