Rose McGowan Indicted on Cocaine Charge

Authorities claim that she unintentionally left her wallet behind at Washington Dulles International Airport after a flight.

The maximum sentence for the charge is 10 years in prison.

Jose Baez, McGowan's lawyer, added in a statement to TMZ: 'Rose steadfastly maintains her innocence.

A trial date will be set in Loudoun County, Virginia on Tuesday. The actress said she reported the wallet missing when she realized it was not on her person.

'These charges would have never been brought if it weren't for her activism as a voice for women everywhere. McGowan had flown in for the Women's March on Washington that day. "I assure you, this selective prosecution will be met with a strong defence".

She has previously made suggestions and allegations that the arrest was an attempt by Harvey Weinstein to "silence" her over a rape accusation she has made against him.

In a court filing last week, attorneys for McGowan argued that the five hours between the plane landing and the wallet being found make it impossible to prove the cocaine was hers. McGowan has said repeatedly that the drugs may have been planted on her, and are not hers.

In November, The New Yorker revealed that Weinstein had hired an ex-Israeli intelligence officer to monitor his accusers and journalists close to the story.

Weinstein pleaded not guilty to the sexual assault charges.

Weinstein has since been arrested on charges of rape, committing a criminal sex act, sexual abuse and sexual misconduct in NY for which has pled not guilty.
